Originally released in 1988, the Air Jordan 3 was the first Air Jordan designed by Tinker Hatfield. They also served as the debut for the now iconic 'Jumpman', which would replace the original Air Jordan 'Wings' logo going forward. The AJ 3 was also the first model to feature a visible Air unit in the heel along with elephant print detailing. Spike Lee's Mars Blackmon character would make its debut in an advertisement for the sneaker.
